I'm writing this on the plane—our first flight out of Ottawa. It actually boarded early and left on time. Emma studied the safety instructions as soon as we got on. I'm relying on her to tell me what to do if something bad happens. Someone near me keeps farting. It stinks. I just hope it doesn't affect the cabin pressure.

It feels kind of weird. I'm excited for our upcoming adventure, but it doesn't yet feel like we're leaving for almost a year. I'm weirdly calm about it.
It was really nice seeing so many friends, family, and neighbours in the last few days before we left. Thanks to everyone who came by or sent us off with kind words and advice.
Emma and Teddy are now officially in 2nd and 4th grade. We've already started "travel-schooling"—a term I just made up because we're not really homeschooling. Also, sorry kids, no summer vacation for you!!

Before we left, I made sure to download movies for the kids' tablets and books for Mylène's eReader… and then completely forgot to get anything for myself. Classic. Now I'm stuck writing this blog post.
We're staying in Calgary tonight, and tomorrow we're off to Whitehorse, Yukon. Fingers crossed there's not too much smoke up there.
