Beautiful Kluane National Park – Part 1

Mountains are my happy place — they ground me, energize me, and yes, I love them enough to tattoo them on my arm. I fell hard for the Rockies years ago, but the Saint Elias Mountains? Whole. New. Level. When we pulled into Kluane National Park, I was literally breathless.

I think this is Mt Hubbard... or maybe Mt Vancouver?

Kluane is wild and massive. It's home to Canada’s tallest mountain, Mount Logan (5,959 m!, main photo of this post), and part of the largest non-polar icefield in the world. About 80% of it is all mountains and glaciers. While there are great hikes, the best way to truly grasp the scale is from the sky. So, for my birthday, we splurged on a flightseeing tour!

We didn’t tell the kids in case it got cancelled (smoke, wind, raven invasion — you never know). But miracle of miracles: blue skies, no wind, no smoke. Absolute perfection.

The views? Unreal. We took a ridiculous number of photos and videos. You can't actually see Mount Logan from the road, so flying is the only way to fully appreciate this icy giant (unless you feel like hiking for 3 weeks). It’s a must-do if you're in the area. Check out the photo gallery to see some of the photos we took on the tour.

Some cool glaciers

Now, of course, no adventure is complete without a hiccup — or in our case, a mid-air barf. Poor Teddy got motion sick five minutes into the flight (rookie move: forgot the Gravol 😬). Tiny plane + mountain turbulence = one green kiddo and a very full barf bag. But the trooper rallied! He smiled afterward and said, “That was so fun!” Honestly, if it had been Joey, I’d still be hearing about it…

I swear Teddy was smiling after
